Upon the completion of the program the participants should be able to:
- Define Professional Competence.
- Develop an understanding of Ethical Responsibility.
- Recognize the dramatics of the Counseling Relationship.
- Discuss acceptable financial arrangements related to professional services.
- Identify appropriate advertising, public statements and media presentations.
- Review established guidelines pertaining to client records, confidentiality and informed consent.
- Discuss the therapeutic issues relating to sexual misconduct.
Identify established sanctions and penalties for unethical therapeutic behaviors.

Addictions 101
Upon the completion of the program the participants should be able to:

Develop an understanding of the historical perspective pertaining to addiction, the epidemiology of addiction and the Federal role in addiction policy.

Participants will gain insights into the determinants of addiction.

Participants will review the various substances of abuse.

Review the evaluation of early treatment and current treatment approaches.

Discuss the effects of addiction with regards to different population groups.
Assess the ethical and legal aspects of confidentiality as it relates to the treatment of addictions.

Upon the completion of the program the participants should be able to:
- Develop an understanding of the recommended criteria for client assessment and placement.
- Recognize a list of acceptable assessment and placement instruments for uniform statewide use.
- Analyze standards and guidelines that could be used in monitoring drug and alcohol managed care plans.
Summarize draft review criteria and procedures that could be used in analyzing, reviewing and recommending the use of additional placement and assessment instruments.
