PSI Working With New Bayfront Hotel

Updated: October 14, 2014

Preferred Systems, Inc. will again be providing minority recruitment services in the Erie area, this time to the Bayfront Place Courtyard by Marriott and Parking Garage project. PSI’s role is to ensure that the Erie County Convention Center Authority (ECCA) meets its goal of at least 10 percent workforce diversity in connection with this project.

PSI will recruit and assess members of the Erie minority community to enable them to obtain employment with the building trades and work on the project. PSI will work collaboratively with community agencies to raise awareness in the minority community about project employment opportunities. PSI will also collaborate with the ECCA general project manager to monitor contractor compliance with the Workforce Diversity Plan adopted by ECCA in connection with the project.

Our program provides individual assessments, testing, and intake as a starting point for each participant. This provides basic information from the outset to develop an educational and employment plan. The client is assigned to a Case Manager/Job Developer, who works with the client and employers to identify the appropriate employment level for the applicant.

PSI provides assessments for all the individuals who are interested in taking the apprenticeship test to help determine the trade for which they have the best aptitude. We refer individuals that need specific remedial help with math and GED preparation to educational partners that work to prepare them for the apprenticeship test.

PSI will meet its minority recruitment objectives through its on-going relationships with the Great Lakes Building and Construction Trade Council, community representatives of the Erie neighborhood programs, minority religious leaders, and social services agencies that target minority populations.
