Preferred Systems, Inc. is a recognized provider of Continuing Education and Pre-Licensing training for professionals across the country.

Since 1995, our mission has been to promote the value of career advancement through required continuing education courses. We do this by providing personalized services and making affiliations that produce quality educational programs for our clients.

Our primary product line is professional continuing education and pre-licensing preparation for professionals and organizations throughout the country. We offer hundreds of online and classroom courses designed specifically for regulation and licensing, with special attention to nationally recognized exams.

We design our classes to meet all regulatory and licensing requirements. We also provide career advancement training with special attention given to national exams. Our customers range from insurance and real estate professionals to accountants and attorneys, nurses and addiction counselors, employee assistance professionals and more.

Founded in 1995, Preferred Systems, Inc. started as a drug and alcohol training provider. We quickly expanded our programming across the state of Pennsylvania, and eventually our programs and services were available across the United States. As our company grew, our expertise in training and education grew as well, giving us the ability to work across multiple industries and provide training to individuals in a variety of professions. We regularly add new certifications, and work with corporations and professionals throughout the country to achieve our goal of providing continuing education that works.

Our Team

Michael Chevalier, President and CEO

Michael Chevalier is Preferred Systems, Inc.’s founder and CEO. After earning his B.A. and M.Ed. from Gannon University, Mike got his start in drug and alcohol counseling. He started Preferred Systems, Inc. in 1996 to fill the continuing education needs of licensed professionals in the Erie area. Since then, Preferred Systems, Inc. has become accredited by 42 different national licensing boards and associations in the areas of Law, Insurance, Finance, Workers’ Compensation, Real Estate, Human Resources, Safety, Behavioral Health, Pathological Gambling, Counseling Treatment, Healthcare, Education, etc. Mike takes the lead on most projects and represents the company in Erie, the Mid Atlantic region, and at conferences across the country.

As the President of Preferred Systems, Inc., Mike also oversees recruitment, assessment/evaluation and employment placement services for the building trades arena specializing in the area of minority recruitment. Preferred Systems, Inc. has worked on the Erie Bayfront Convention Center and Hotel project, Presque Isle Casino and Downs, The Erie Insurance Arena; various Erie municipal construction projects and is currently involved in the $80 million Bayfront Place Courtyard by Marriott and Parking Garage.

Mike has authored numerous grant applications, having received in excess of $5,000,000 for community social service providers. Mike has also appeared on television and radio shows addressing specific topics pertaining to education, and various social issues affecting the community. Mike also serves as a board member on a number of different local, regional, state, and national organizations.

When Mike’s not busy representing Preferred Systems, Inc. around the country he enjoys working on his cars, spending time with his dogs, and last but not least, spending time with his wife, three grown children, and three grandsons. He’s an avid runner, having successfully completed twenty-one marathons in the last thirty years.

Jilian Krause, Chief Marketing Officer

Jilian Krause joined PSI in July of 2013 by opening the Baltimore office of Preferred Systems, Inc. Since then, Jil has been hard at work getting CE courses approved in the areas of real estate, law, and insurance and making a presence of herself in the Baltimore area. Jil’s background is primarily in the areas of education and course development.

Jil first started at PSI’s Erie office in 1996. Since then she’s acquired two Bachelor’s degrees in Political Science and Education from Penn State University and a Master’s degree in Education Policy from the University of Maryland. She worked as a teacher in the Baltimore County school system for eight years before coming back on board with Preferred Systems, Inc.

Jil is PSI’s go to person for overseeing the development of course curricula and assessments, both live and online. She’s become adept at navigating accreditation forms and requirements. Jil also serves as a representative of PSI at state and national conferences and meetings.

Jil enjoys the urban lifestyle that Baltimore has to offer but also enjoys escaping to the hills of Pennsylvania where she’s spent her weekends as a ski instructor the past eight years. Although her most favorite hobby is spending time with her baby boy MJ, who she and her husband Mike welcomed in January of 2014. MJ will be chasing Jil down the ski slopes in no time.

Joe Lewandowski, Chief Operating Officer

Joe has extensive experience in telecommunications, office and data management, seminar execution and excels in accounting and fiscal accountability.  Prior to his 16 years with Preferred Systems, Inc.  Mr. Lewandowski earned an Associate Degree in Business Administration and spent 14 years with Time-Warner. He provides oversite in multiple areas of the agency, including the day to day operations, audits, planning and management of seminars, related training courses, special events and client relations.  

When not involved in the operations of Preferred Systems, Inc. Joe likes to spend his off hours with his wife, children and grandchildren, woodworking, camping, and kayaking.
