How we became the platform for CE instructors.

Preferred Systems was founded in 1998 in Erie, Pennsylvania, as a general continuing education provider. For nearly two decades, we worked with certification boards and corporations across dozens of fields, building the paperwork infrastructure that makes accredited education possible at scale.

The pivot to real estate CE started with a single client. In 2012, Jerry Linkhorn, a solo home inspector in Columbus, Ohio doing 110 inspections a year, signed on with us to become a state-approved CE instructor. He built his book by teaching real estate agents what to look for in a good inspection. Five years later, Linkhorn Inspections was 10 inspectors doing over 3,000 inspections annually. We built the program out in 2013 to make that same model available to every home inspector in the country, and have since extended it to the other trades that sell through real estate agents.

Since then we’ve extended the same turnkey model into six more real-estate-adjacent professions: lending, title, staging, insurance, real estate law, and home warranty. Today PSI supports more than 2,000 clients across those seven verticals from our headquarters in Erie, with real-estate CE approvals in 45 states and provider status with 50+ certification boards.
