Preferred Systems, Inc. is committed to making our websites, portals, and courses usable by everyone — including people with disabilities. Accessibility isn’t just a checklist for us; it’s a design constraint from the first sketch to the last deploy.
Our standard
We design and build to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. Where a specific tool or vendor requires stricter compliance (for example, in a state CE board’s procurement rules), we meet that stricter standard on the affected pages.
What we build for
- Semantic HTML and clear document structure so screen readers announce content correctly;
- Sufficient color contrast (4.5:1 for body text, 3:1 for large text and UI components);
- Keyboard navigation for every interactive element, with a visible focus outline;
- Descriptive alt text on informative images and empty alt on decorative ones;
- Form fields with programmatic labels, error messages linked to their inputs, and clear help text;
- Motion respect: we honor the
prefers-reduced-motionbrowser setting and never use bouncing, spinning, or continuously animated decorative content.
Ongoing improvement
We test with keyboard-only navigation, common screen readers (VoiceOver, NVDA), and automated tooling on every release. When we find gaps, we fix them. Accessibility is a moving target — as browsers, assistive technologies, and our own content evolve, so does this work.
Third-party content
Some content on the Services is provided by third parties — video hosting, calendar booking, payment processing, and similar. We choose vendors that support accessibility, but we don’t control the underlying widgets. If a third-party element on our site isn’t working for you, please let us know and we’ll help.
